Just a Llittle Rant

Vintage Dress: Duet Vintage, Vintage Fedora: thrifted, Payless heels: thrifted

Hello,

Have you ever had so much to do that you don't even know where to start from?  Well that is how I feel today. It is probably one of the reasons why sometimes I'm not even sure why I have a blog .Okay, I do know one reason. I love sharing my thrifty outfits, promoting recycled fashion, and from time to time sharing DIY's, three reasons?

Being organized is not easy period! But, I believe it is doable. It amazes me how much more I was able to get done when I was in school, working part time jobs, and helping at my local church. Now that I'm at home every other day, I can't seem to get most things done. Sometimes I catch myself trying to do three things at once. And many of us know that is not going to work.

How do you stay organized?

Anyway, I have completed week three of eating better. I think from now on, I will stop counting the weeks. Especially if it is a life goal that I'm shooting for. Total count down 6lbs lost, not sure how many inches. It's interesting how men lose weight much more easier than women. My husband lost far much more than I. haha!

This fabulous vintage dress that I purchased from Duet Vintage on Etsy, did not fit me a few months ago. I was a little nervous to try it on, but it fit! Truly one of the quirks of a successful new eating routine.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of  your week!

xoxo

Sunday's Threads: Pink Again...

Vintage and Thrifted: Dress (similar),  Belt (similar), Brooch (similar), Purse (similar), Shoes from Amazon (similar)
Hello!!

Funny thing about me wearing a pink dress (and for the second time this month), is that I never liked the color pink. I forget why... Anyway, the past weekend was jam packed with events. I woke up on Sunday feeling super tired. I honestly just wanted to sleep in! But, I didn't. I got up and put the first dress I saw on.

This Sunday,  I also rediscover the cute shoes I am wearing. The last time I wore them was the Fall of last year. Yikes! I have grown to become such a horrible hoarder. I have things in my closet that I forget I bought at the thrift (this dress is actually a good example). I can't help but feel bad about such habit.

Well, all that is going to end. We are soon to be moving to our new house, so I will have to do some heavy closet cleaning. I will also have a huge sale on my online shoppe Retro Glam.

Stay tune for the shop updates by following me on my instagram account @shopRetroGlam. I will post more info of the sale there.

Well, have I gotten lazy with blogging... Can you believe this weekend we will enter into the month of March??!!

A few weeks have passed by since my last post. I have been busy trying to finish up school. I'm still nervous because I haven't received a letter from the university confirming my graduation day. My advisor said everything looks good so I'm hopeful coming this May I will graduate.

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers, it's been a long road.

Sunday's Best

Dress: Vintage Neiman Marcus, Vintage Belt: thrifted, shoes: thrifted, Vintage purse: thrifted, Eyeglasses c/o of bonlook

Hello!

With all the snow and below zero weather we are having in Chicago, not only were my classes canceled but also my church's Sunday service. I didn't let that stop me from wearing this dreamy vintage dress on Sunday. We spent most of the day watching tv and I was able to catch up on some orders from my shop.

The funny thing is that when I realized that my winter break would only last 3 weeks I kind of dreaded going back to school, but now after spending so much time stuck at home I'm anxious to go any where!

Stay warm and toasty...

Gray vs. Grey

Dress/Thrifted Vintage, Belt/Thrifted Vintage, Brooch/Thrifted Vintage, Shoes and clutch/H&M

I can't remember the last time wore I one color throughout an outfit. I'm not a fan of just wearing one color. That is why you will rarely see me wearing all black. I got this dress at a thrift store by the house my husband and I just bought a few months ago...

About that, well we still haven't moved in yet. The house needs few last changes before we can start painting, adding new floors, and kitchen cabinets. Till then, we won't be ready to move in.

Not moving in right now is something I'm totally okay with. School is just really keeping me busy. I can't imagine having to pack all our stuff on top of everything else I'm already doing. Not now, I would go crazy. I'm on my 9th week of student teaching, that means 7 more to go!!

I'm glad for such a beautiful experience. I'm learning so many things and applying a lot of what I have learned.

I hope you all have a pleasant week! I have to get back to grading papers (I'm typing this with a smile on my face... what I love grading papers!)

Sunday Funday!

Hello all!! I'm now on my 6th week of student teaching. Whew! Ten more to go. I'm currently trying my best to stay organized. Being a teacher is a lot of work and if you are not organized you well learn to be!

Here is my Sunday outfit: Thrifted: vintage dress, vintage lace blouse, vintage belt, vintage brooch, boots from Amazon, ring c/o Modern Design Inc

How awesome is my tungsten ring?! Modern Design Inc sells custom made rings and wholesaled to many stores. I was contacted by them to write a review on one of their rings. I gotta tell ya, it was not easy choosing a ring. They have so many great options to select from. I was very pleased with my decision. The detail across the middle of my Carbide ring is very unique and beautiful! Check them out!

Thrifty Thursday

Let's face it, I can't say that I wasn't thrift shopping during my semester. Now that it is over, I have a bit of time to share with you some of my favorite finds of this week. So here they are:

Sweet vintage mouse brooch!!

I can't wait to pin this brooch in between collars.

This dress is just charming!

This dress is fall ready! Can't wait for the fall. (The fabric is to thick for summer)

I loved this vintage pink school girl dress! I can't wait to style it with a printed blouse.

So excited about decorating our apartment with these two.

Thankful

Vintage Floral Print dress: Thrifted
Vintage Belt: Thrifted
Vintage Cape: Thrifted
Cream Mary Jane Heels: Amazon
There are a handful of things I am thankful for this thanksgiving. My faith, family, hubby, health, and all the beautiful people I'm surrounded with. I'm so excited and looking forward to see my family together for thanksgiving dinner. Not to mention having to eat all the delicious food.

The cape I'm wearing here was only $0.45! I have been searching for a knitted cape for a while now. So when I first saw this one I was thrilled! It's a bit granny'ish, but I loved how warm and cozy it is. I now have four capes, all vintage.

Are you planning on shopping for black Friday?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Instagraming

It has been a busy week full of instagraming. I'm an addict. It would be awesome if I could print all of my photos. But that would be expensive. Here are some pics that I took this week and maybe last:
My attempt to a braided up do. I was hoping it would be higher but I actually liked how it turned out.

Here is picture of what I wore to school on Wednesday. Granny Diana came out to play. Haha! I love wearing slouchy sweaters. They are so comfy and they keep me warm on my train rides to school. Everything I'm wearing here is thrifted.

So, I thrifted this skirt on Tuesday and I'm trying to figure out how I would wear it. I'm still not sure how this would look on. I will also try to pair the skirt with a lace blouse and a blazer. Its so much fun when each piece has a different texture.
Some pretty neat collar dresses and blouse I thrifted last week. I love the yellow one!! They all need minor alterations so I'm hoping I will finish them before the fall ends.
This is a super cute and large bow brooch I thrifted this Tuesday. I adore large brooches there is just so many ways to wear them. They can really change your look.

So yeah I have to get back to packing. This weekend I will be going on a camping trip with my husband and church members. I'm super stoked since I have never gone camping. I bought some marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate for smores! What are you planning for this weekend?

Xx

Thrifty Thursday: August Part 2

So this week I did not get to do much thrift shopping but....On our way back home from our mini vacation at Wisconsin Dells we (the hubby and I) spotted an Antique Mall. I will post more pictures of the mall soon. For now these were some of the items I purchased on our visit there.

Odd vintage stamps $5, I know I'm weird.
31 vintage colorful threads for only $15!!
Adorable vintage brooch $4.99, momma likes!
.
Cute vintage postcard $2

Well this week is flying by so fast. I have so many things I want to cram in, since I start school next week. I want to finish cleaning out my closet and maybe add some things to my online shop. My brother in law is in town visiting and we want to go swimming, downtown, and get some Giordano's pizza. I'm also planning on going to the Randolph Street Market this weekend. The list goes on! Lets see how much I get done. I hope you all ave a fabulous weekend!

DIY Fruit Brooch!

*I got this neat idea after I saw a blog post from Scathingly Brilliant on a diy eraser brooch.*

Inspiration

From Stella McCarthy to Prada the fruit print is set to be all over this summer. Although the fruit print was featured last Spring 2011, it seems that it will be returning for Summer 2012. You can find cute fruit printed clothing at ASOS, Macy's, &TOPSHOP!

Materials

-Set of erasers from Target
-Super Glue
-Pins

Instructions: Very simple just apply the super glue on the pin and then glue it onto the fruit eraser of your choice. Press both tightly together for about 30-40 seconds until the glue dries. Now you have a cute trendy brooch!
